In the old days of India, Mahāmudrā yogis and yoginis often spent their days along the banks of Ganges River, living a life that seemed no different from that of ordinary people, yet deep in their hearts’ sat the crux of Mahāmudrā.
The joys and sorrows that naturally arise in the mundane, daily grind of life provided them the fuel necessary to feed the fire of wisdom.
Contemporary Mahāmudrā Siddha, Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche, lives his own quiet, ordinary life in a city, just like the Mahāmudrā practitioners of old did on the banks of the Mother Ganges. It is only within this seemingly mundane life that the indispensable fuel to alight the view of wisdom is abundant.
In the 21st century, our much-revered teacher, Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche, has continued to utter the whispered phrases that carry on the unique style of this lineage.
Like a tiny spoon of sugar mixed with burning chilies the essence of Mahamudra continues — The Crux of Mahāmudrā: the Vigor that Fuels the Flame of Insight.
